Overview

The "Excavation Safety" course is a practical occupational safety and health program designed to build structured competence in excavation hazards, trenching, soil classification, sloping, benching, shoring, shielding, utility identification, access, and competent-person inspection. The program combines technical knowledge, recognized international standards, local compliance awareness, operational checklists, and applied workplace examples.

Participants move from core concepts to practical application through case studies, templates, inspection tools, exercises, and scenario-based discussions. The course is suitable for organizations that want production-ready safety practices, stronger compliance, and clearer field implementation.

Program Duration: The course is designed over 3 days (15 training hours).

  5. Recent graduates in engineering, safety, environmental sciences, or technical disciplines who want structured practical safety capability.

Competencies

Core Competencies

Soil classification

Classify soil conditions and recognize instability indicators.

Designing sloping systems

Apply sloping or benching concepts to a trench scenario.

Trench inspection

Use a checklist to verify access, protection, atmosphere, water, edge distance, and equipment.

Safe excavation planning

Prepare a plan covering permits, utility checks, protective systems, and emergency arrangements.

Utility identification

Apply call-before-you-dig practices and verify underground services.
