Overview

The "Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HAZOP / JSA / Risk Assessment)" course is a practical occupational safety and health program designed to build structured competence in hazard identification, JSA, HAZOP, qualitative and quantitative risk assessment, risk registers, the hierarchy of controls, and ISO 45001 integration. The program combines technical knowledge, recognized international standards, local compliance awareness, operational checklists, and applied workplace examples.

Participants move from core concepts to practical application through case studies, templates, inspection tools, exercises, and scenario-based discussions. The course is suitable for organizations that want production-ready safety practices, stronger compliance, and clearer field implementation.

Program Duration: Because of the depth of the subject and the number of methodologies covered, the course is designed over 5 days (25 training hours).

Objectives

Program Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Distinguish between hazard, risk, near miss, incident, consequence, likelihood, severity, and residual risk.
  2. Apply Job Safety Analysis by breaking tasks into steps, identifying hazards, and documenting controls.
  3. Apply HAZOP methodology using nodes, parameters, guide words, deviations, causes, consequences, safeguards, and recommendations.
  4. Use risk matrices, LOPA, FMEA, ALARP logic, and prioritization methods to assess and rank risks.
  5. Build and update a practical risk register with owners, deadlines, current controls, and residual risk.
  6. Integrate risk-assessment outputs with ISO 45001 objectives, operational controls, and management review.
Target Audience
